My vision is to honor the original ecstatic dance—purely dancing, no DJ booth, and no phones or photos. These guidelines create a sacred space, supporting the deepest healing and connection to ourselves through dance.
My intentions are simple: to offer you a safe container where your emotions, thoughts, movements, and sounds are welcomed and celebrated.

By including opening and closing circles, we begin and end with moments of connection and reflection, creating a safe, grounded container where every participant feels seen and held.

WITH DJ COCONOVA:
Coco’s soul calling is to empower others through movement. She curates transformative musical journeys inspired by 5Rhythms, with her own unique twist. Together, we’ll ride two waves of sound, with an opening circle in between. The music starts slow, builds to a peak, and gradually descends. This structure honors the natural rhythm of our nervous system.
Each wave begins slowly, grounding us in our bodies and the space. We’ll then channel masculine energy, embracing strength and boundaries, before moving into full cathartic release, shedding our stories. Next, we’ll awaken our playful inner child, inviting silliness and spontaneity. Finally, we’ll soften into the heart space, embracing feminine energy, and gently descend into stillness, completing the cycle feeling alive, connected, and whole.

Frequently asked questions:
Q: Why don’t you allow photos or videos to be taken?
A: This is an old-school ecstatic dance tradition, and it’s a big part of what makes the experience so unique and sacred. Without the presence of cameras, we create a space where everyone can feel truly free to express themselves without self-consciousness. It’s about honoring the moment and keeping it special for those who were there to experience it—something that doesn’t need to be shared beyond that.

Q: Why is the opening circle in the middle of the event?
A: With ecstatic dance, many people arrive late, so we begin dancing, allowing everyone to show up. Once everyone is in the space, we gather for the opening circle to connect and be present with one another. The opening circle helps us create a sense of community, and allows us to rest briefly, to then dive deeper together into the second wave of music together.

Q: What is 5Rhythms, and how does your music differ?
A: 5Rhythms, created by Gabrielle Roth in the 1970s, is a freeform dance modality designed to move us out of our heads and into our bodies. In fact, it is the very thing that inspired ecstatic dance, which started in the early 2000s. 5Rhythms follows five distinct energies: Flowing (fluid movement, trusting in our bodies), Staccato (embodying the masculine), Chaos (full cathartic release and letting go of old stories), Lyrical (joy, rebirth, playfulness), and Stillness (integration and completing the cycle). Coco's music honors this structure with her own unique twist. She interprets a few of the rhythms differently and has added a rhythm she calls Grace. The music always begins slow, building to a peak and then descends back down, honoring our nervous systems and allowing us to maintain energy throughout.

Q: Are you just playing a playlist?
A: No, the music is carefully mixed ahead of time, much like a live DJ set, but using software to blend the tracks seamlessly.

Q: Why is there no DJ booth?
A: A DJ booth can draw attention away from the inner journey and focus us on an external figure. By removing the booth, we honor the old-school ecstatic dance tradition of keeping the experience inward, helping participants dive deeper into the practice and their own healing.
